This film about two graffiti writers form Rotterdam who are each others totall oposites was released in 2008. I made it as a conclusion and ode to my own graffiti “carreer” as this was how my creative life actually started. I wanted to make the film in my art school graduation year but the teacher advised me not to because it would have been such a big project.
I couldn’t get the story out of my head and I really felt that I had to get it out of system in oder to move on in my carreer. So I finishes the script, used my saving to buy new gear and jsut started to film. Mostly in the evenings and weekends, as I was working on freelance jobs as a DP and director. The crew was mostly the actors ans me with one or two friends helping out. I was always, directing and shooting, or booming. As I was producing it myself, I was also the one trying to get the actors on set, with the proper outfit, extra’s etc. It was such a great experience and I can truly say that I learned A LOT during this period!

The film was released in 2008 and eventhough the premiere was great and it was well rechieved at a few national festivals it felt like it should have reached a bigger audience.
In 2011, I noticed that somebody ripped the dvd and put it on Youtube. I was surprised that it had about 11k views. Then suddenly it got picked up by a German grafiti blog and form there the film went viral and within a year it reached more than a milion views. I put an decent HD render on my own channel that also had quite some views.

Turned out that this niche, almost no budget film had an audience after all.
